Welcome to Rutgers Arts Online, a program offering online instruction in the visual and performing arts.
Rutgers Arts Online is a division of Mason Gross School of the Arts. Rutgers Arts Online was established in spring 2010 to provide an institutional umbrella for the school's rapid increase in online enrollments. What started as a pilot project in 2007, with a single music faculty member teaching two online courses, expanded to accommodate nearly 6,000 students enrolled in more than 100 online classes during the 2013-2014 academic year. Rutgers Arts Online has become the largest online program at Rutgers University.
Rutgers Arts Online entered its first full academic year in fall 2010. The division currently offers online courses across all four departments of the school—Music, Dance, Theater, and Visual Arts—as well as the school's outreach arm, the Mason Gross Extension Division, the Rutgers Center For Digital Filmmaking, and the Brodsky Center for Innovative Editions.
Our mission is to serve not only the Rutgers community but students around the globe, delivering high-quality arts education along with the most cutting-edge technologies available to the virtual classroom. We also are pleased to offer a Master of Music Education online degree program, which began in spring 2014.
