MFA/BFA Design Thesis Show

On view: April 13–26
Reception: April 18

Undergraduate and graduate work in design.

BFA DESIGN THESIS EXHIBITION: Where have you been?

“Where have you been?” can be an earnest greeting between reunited friends, but it can also be a charged complaint against someone who has been absent. For our show, “Where have you been?” is an inquiry that melds time and location into a singular entity. It is a call to reflect on our interests, histories, and experiences that have shaped our voices. “Where have you been?” is an explanation and celebration of our time and stories, as designers and individuals.

MFA DESIGN THESIS EXHIBITION: ImBalance

The MFA in Design thesis exhibition explores the concept of ImBalance through a multitude of mediums and modalities. Corina Coughlan displays the complexities of synchronization, revealing the artistry of human connection through calibration. Rachel Herring creates an experiential video installation to enamor viewers with the present moment in conjunction with a workbook to create balance with the smartphone. Melisa Tekin delves into the harsh realities of urban development as the exhibition exposes the tumultuous landscape of New York City’s affordable housing, shedding light on the consequences of opacity in its construction. ImBalance invites you to explore the interplay between harmony and discord in contemporary contexts.
