Shanghai Quartet to play FREE Feb. 11

The renowned Shanghai Quartet is set to conduct a master class from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Nicholas Music Center, in the Mason Gross Performing Arts Center. The master class is free and open to the public.

The event will provide the public with the opportunity to witness Mason Gross student groups performing for the quartet and receiving the quartet's critique. The second half of the master class will feature a short performance by the Shanghai Quartet, followed by questions and discussion with the audience.

The Shanghai Quartet—Weigang Li, violin, Yi-Wen Jiang, violin, Honggang Li, viola, and Nicholas Tzavaras, cello—has performed around the globe with the Tokyo, Juilliard and Guarneri Quartets, Yo-Yo Ma and Peter Serkin, among others. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Trisha Brown Dance Company, David Parsons, Brice Marden, Peter Schjeldahl, F. Murray Abraham, Moisés Kaufman, and Judith Ivey.
