Website designer and Art & Design alum Heather Pinheiro won the 2022 365: AIGA Year in Design award for Power + Voice, a website that serves as a resource for those seeking reproductive rights access and provides information on the history of the Roe v. Wade case.
Pinheiro created the site in the wake of the landmark case being overturned in 2022, when she said women became inundated with conflicting information around abortion laws, access to birth control, clinic regulations, and the legal implications of seeking an abortion.
“Through this project, I aimed to showcase the transformative potential of design in effecting positive change,” says Pinheiro. “I hope that emerging designers recognize the capacity of their craft to empower and uplift communities.”
