Glee Club to perform 141st Spring Concert May 4, 2013

The Rutgers University Glee Club, an internationally renowned collegiate men’s chorus, will be holding its 141st Spring Concert Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. at the Nicholas Music Center. In addition to singing school songs that date back to the choir’s founding in 1872, the group will perform a diverse repertoire.

The Glee Club will be performing a selection from Elmer Gantry, a Grammy-winning opera by the Mason Gross School’s Robert Livingston Aldridge, director of the Music Department; Steven Sametz’s Doth Love Exist, which the Glee Club premiered earlier this year; and pieces stylistically ranging from Wedding Qawwali by A. R. RahmanOnly in the Dream by John David Earnest, to Jennifer Higdon’s Voice of the Bard. The concert will of course conclude with the much-loved songs of Rutgers University. There are a few surprises, as well.

Nicholas Music Center is located on the Douglass Campus of Rutgers University at 85 George Street, New Brunswick, New Jersey. The concert will be followed by a reception for alumni and friends of the Rutgers University Glee Club. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for Rutgers alumni, employees, and seniors, $5 for students. Tickets are available by calling 732-932-7511.
