“The Theater Department has kept me close to home, and taken me the furthest away from home I’ve ever been. As a commuter, I am able to reach Rutgers or New York everyday and be back home in time for dinner with my family. Yet on the other hand, the Theater Department has sent me abroad, which has given me the privilege to see four other countries. As a person with a fierce taste for adventure, that made this a well worthwhile program, all that without even having mentioned the amazing people- faculty and students alike- that you will find here.”

“I chose Mason Gross based on the incredible faculty and staff and their overall commitment to training students not only to become masters in their crafts but to also become great working professionals within their given field. Also, I have come to absolutely adore my fellow students both in my year and those in the upperclasses. God bless and shout out to BUMPANY2028!“

“Through this program, I learned and acquired so many skills that can be used in not just theater, but in any and all productions that can be considered theatrical, like films, music and/or dance concerts, parades, award shows; the list truly does go on. All of these types of productions need people behind the scenes in order for everything to come together and run smoothly. That’s why I believe theater is the perfect medium where you can learn and attain these skills.
In short, here at Mason Gross Theater, you’re able to expand your knowledge and skills to your liking. All you have to do is ask and let your advisors know, and they will do their best to help you achieve what you want to achieve as a theater maker/artist.“

“It’s not often that you get to work with people in making the impossible happen day after day, but that has been my experience in the scene shop. I have learned to make impossibilities real, and execute wild ideas. No week here has been the same, and I am consistently supported and challenged by the faculty and staff, and their extraordinary mentorship. I’m looking forward to the next two years because the emphasis on a practical education has kept me engaged and learning constantly since I’ve gotten here.“

“Applying to college, I wanted to be part of a program that engrossed me in the work. I wanted to leave college having experienced what its like to work in a theater environment. Being part of the Mason Gross School of the Arts and its proximity to New York City has allowed me to collaborate with, be mentored, and connected with working professionals on and off-Broadway.“
