Art & Design MFA alum Aaron Turner was commissioned to create the March 2021 cover of The Atlantic. The photo illustration accompanied the cover story “We Mourn for All We Do Not Know“. His photography also accompanied an article in the issue by Clint Smith, “Stories of Slavery, From Those Who Survived It.”
The issue is the first in a series about American history and Black life called “Inheritance.”
Turner is a photographer and educator based in Arkansas.
