Faculty & Staff
All we must do is alight the faint but powerful memory that we are autonomous, pleasure-seeking creatures who can never be tamed. Our renewed wildness grows the clearest path to liberation.
Nathalie Jonas is a teacher, choreographer, and performer with over 20 years of experience in the field. She is a PhD candidate at Texas Woman's University and holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College. There she completed thesis research focused on the intersections of anarchism and dance. Her recent choreography explores a related theme: the place and purpose of performance outside of traditional venues, activated through an investigation of methods that increase our awareness of the spatio-poltical contexts in which dance occurs. Jonas has been on faculty at Mason Gross since 2018. Before that, she served for 11 years on the dance faculty at Barnard College. Jonas is also a certified Feldenkrais Practitioner.
