Biography

David Dannenfelser has been Assistant Professor of Playwriting and Directing at Wells College and Assistant Professor of Theatre at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. He has worked as a visiting and adjunct professor for several other colleges and universities including; Montclair State University, The Middlesex County Arts High School, The Oberlin College Theatre Institute, Muhlenberg College, Morris County College. Dannenfelser has also worked as a teaching artist for Arts-In-Education organizations such as; Theatre For a New Audience in NYC, The Mustard Seed Theatre Lab also in NYC, The NY Shakespeare Festival’s Playwriting In-The-Schools program in residence at The Joseph Papp Public Theatre and for Playwright’s Theatre of NJ.

Dannenfelser is also a director. He has directed plays for The Pennsylvania Stage Company, Inertia Theatre Company, where he received an OOBR award for best revival of a play. He has also been the Artistic Director for his own company, Icarus Theatre Ensemble, directing and producing four summer theatre festivals in Ithaca, NY. Dannenfelser has also directed numerous productions at colleges and universities.

Dannenfelser has written, directed and produced his plays at Here in NYC, the Joseph Papp Public Theatre The Youth Theatre of NJ in Sparta, NJ, The Kitchen Theatre in Ithaca, NY. His plays have also been produced by Expanded Arts in NYC, The NYC International Fringe Festival, and John Houseman Studio Theatre. Dannenfelser’s plays have been published by The New York Theatre Experience, edited by Martin Denton, the journals Clockhouse for Goddard College and The Caribbean Writer. His book on Science Communication was published by Palgrave/Macmillan, Springer International. Dannenfelser is a member of The Dramatists Guild, Inc. and The Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
