Biography

Christie Newman has been a dance educator in the New York City public school system for the past twelve years. During this time she has started dance programs in two schools, which involved creating cohesive curriculums for pre-k through 5th grade, leading several student dance companies as well as leading professional development within her school and the dance education community. She was a proctor for the Arts Achieve assessment research project with the NYC Department of Education and is a Fellow of the Academy for Teachers. She has a BA in theater from Westmont College, an MFA in choreography from Temple University, as well as dual masters in Childhood and Special Education. She was an adjunct faculty member at Temple University. Newman has performed and choreographed with various dance and theatre companies in Santa Barbara, Seattle, Philadelphia, and New York.
