This year, for the first time since 2019, Mason Gross School of the Arts hosted an in-person convocation ceremony. Approximately 260 undergraduate and graduate students attended the event, which took place on May 16 at the State Theatre in downtown New Brunswick.
BFA dancer Alex Silvis served as student speaker. Drama Desk Award-winning dance alum Stephanie Klemons, original dance captain of the Tony-winning Broadway musical Hamilton, addressed the graduating class, along with Chancellor-Provost Francine Conway.
“Live boldly, Silvis advised his classmates. “Use volume, brashness, and persistence to push boundaries and labels to fight for what you believe in with your art. Go forth and continue to make art that changes the world.”
