Present/Past: A One-Day Public Art Exhibition

This one-day public art exhibition features original artwork by MFA students from Chat Travieso’s graduate art seminar at Mason Gross from this past spring 2025 semester. The work responds to the history of the North Stelton neighborhood, particularly the Stelton Modern School, which was an alternative school that operated in the area from 1915 to 1953 that emphasized self-directed learning.
The art displayed will bring this rich history to life, touching on ideas of play, childhood, youth autonomy, place, and public memory. Join Rutgers graduate art students for a public art exhibition celebrating the history of the North Stelton community.
