Meet A Student: Jess (Dance)
Current Mason Gross School of the Arts students will host a virtual session to discuss what it’s like to be a Mason Gross student and share their passion and experience.
Meet Jess, a current Dance student here at Mason Gross. See, from her perspective, what it’s really like to be a student here.
My name is Jess Michal and I am a rising senior BFA dance major! I am from Robbinsville, New Jersey and started training at my local competitive dance studio since first grade. Now at Mason Gross, I have performed in works by guest artists such as Stephanie Batten Bland, Alexandra Beller, and John Heginbotham, faculty members such as John Evans, Jordan Demetrius Lloyd, and Pam Tanowitz as well as many undergraduate and graduate student pieces. I also choreographed and presented my own work in the student concert this fall. Last summer, I completed my 200-HR yoga teacher training certification and have been teaching at the Rutgers Rec Center and local YMCA. When I’m not performing, creating, or teaching, my favorite place on College Ave to grab a bite is Tacoria, my favorite Netflix binge is Rick and Morty, and my favorite artist to jam out to is Chance the Rapper!
