Everyday in Practice: Fluxus and Rutgers

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Mason Gross School of the Arts, the Rutgers Filmmaking Center created FLUXUS/RUTGERS, a short documentary (running time: approx. 13 min.) about the Fluxus artists who taught at Rutgers in the 1970s. Following a screening of the film, Department of Art & Design alumni panelists will discuss the ways in which the Fluxus spirit—embracing experimentation, interdisciplinarity, collectivity, ephemerality, and challenging artworld conventions—continues to influence their own practices and the art community today. In conjunction with this event, students in Didier William’s grad seminar “Myth, Rhythm, and Place” will show current visual work in CSB 411.
Free and open to the public; no RSVP is required.
