Rachael Lansang is a university administrator, musicologist, and scholar-performer in the areas of contemporary vocal repertoire and opera. Lansang is Assistant Dean of Academic Operations in the College of Arts and Sciences at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT, and serves on the part-time faculty at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ and the Mannes School of Music in New York City.
Lansang completed her PhD in Musicology at Rutgers University. She also holds an M.M. and a B.M. in vocal performance from the University of Connecticut. Her research focuses include contemporary art song, history of vocal pedagogy, sound studies, and opera. Recently, she co-edited the volume Historical Performance and New Music: Aesthetics and Practices in Routledge’s Studies in Contemporary Music and Culture series, and she has presented her research at national and international conferences. As a singer, Lansang has performed with opera companies and orchestras throughout the U.S. and Europe, including New Jersey State Opera, Hartford Opera Theater, Baltimore Bach Society, Opéra du Perigord, and Regina Opera, among others. She was also a member of the C4 Ensemble: The Choral Composer Conductor Collective in New York City.
