Biography

Matt Brounley is a musicologist based in New York and has been a member of the AMS since 2013. In 2022, he received his Ph.D. from Stony Brook University. His dissertation, advised by Dr. Benjamin Tausig, is based on ethnographic projects at musical instrument stores and critically examines how electric guitarists ascribe value to timbre. His written work can be found in the Wiley Handbook of Listening and the forthcoming Cambridge Companion to the Electric Guitar.
