Biography

Heather Favretto, a New Jersey native, began dancing at a very young age. Sixteen years later, she received her BFA in dance from Rutgers University and was awarded the Dance Express Honor for outstanding choreography. Upon graduation, she worked for Douglas Dunn and Dancers, Cleo Mack Dance Project, and Naganuma Dance, while producing her own work in and around NYC. She joined Pilobolus Dance Theatre in 2010 to work on a musical adaptation of James and the Giant Peach with Academy Award winning composers Pasek and Paul. She has since helped create dances for Pilobolus, working intimately with collaborators such as Grammy Award winning banjo greats Bèla Fleck and Abigail Washburn, Radiolab hosts Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich, and SpongeBob Squarepants head writer Steven Banks…to name a few. She has had the pleasure and honor of performing in over 30 countries (most recently Saudi Arabia!) with Pilobolus as well as on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda. It continues to be a wild ride, and Heather is truly elated to be sharing her love of art and theatre with her home community here at Rutgers, Mason Gross. Heather served as Dance Captain for Pilobolus’ repertory company for three years and continues to consult on artistic projects.
