Violinist Christina Bouey, is hailed by The New York Times for playing “beautifully,” and The New York Post wrote: “When violinist Christina Bouey spun out that shimmering tune, I thought I died and went to heaven.” Bouey won first prize at the Waldo Mayo Violin Competition (2021), which resulted in her concerto debut at Carnegie Hall. Other prizes include the first prize at the Schoenfeld International String Competition (chamber division), Grand Prize at the Fischoff Competition, first place in the American Prize, and second prize at the Osaka International Chamber Competition. In addition, her ensemble, the Ulysses Quartet, served as the graduate resident string quartet at The Juilliard School from 2019 to 2022.
Bouey made her solo debut in Carnegie Hall, Stern Auditorium, playing Tchaikovsky Concerto with the Senior Concert Orchestra of NY under the baton of Maestro David Gilbert. She has performed as soloist with the Sinfonia Toronto, Greenwich Symphony, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Symphony of the Mountains, Tonkünstler Ensemble, and Bergen Symphony, among others. Her performance highlights in the United States include Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Naumburg Orchestral Concerts, and Merkin Concert Hall. Bouey has performed internationally in the Esterházy Palace, Taiwan National Recital Hall, Harbin Grand Theatre, Wigmore Hall, Fundacion Juan March (Madrid), Sociedad Filarmonica de Bilbao, Ciclo De Camara y Solistas (Salamanca), Premiere Performances Hong Kong, Beijing Modern Music Festival, Vietnam Connection Music Festival, Kanagawa Kenmin Hall (Yokohama), Emilia Romagna Festival (Italy), Biblioteca Luis Angel Arango (Bogota), Sala Nezahualcoyotl (Mexico City), Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall (Istanbul), and the National Arts Centre (Ottawa).
Bouey holds the concertmaster positions of the Albany Symphony and the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. She is a member/founder of the Ulysses String Quartet and plays a 1790 Storioni violin on generous loan from a private donor.
