The RYPE Percussion Clinic Series!
Exit 9 & Peter Saleh, director of the Rutgers Youth Percussion Ensemble (RYPE) present The Percussion Clinic Series. Designed to fit in with the demands of most students' busy fall schedules, these three clinics presented by Exit 9 members as well as Mason Gross faculty and other distinguished percussionists. The topics are:
Sunday, October 26, 12:30pm - 3 pm: What's in your bag: Sticks or Mallets?
Bring your sticks and your mallets! This master class covers basic approaches in snare drumming and keyboard percussion. Students of either strength will learn what carries over between the two families of instruments and what doesn't.
Saturday, November 22, 10 am - 1 pm: Special Percussion Techniques
Join an all-star team of guest clinicians who will provide students with a hands-on demonstration of specialized percussion techniques. Presentations will include 4-mallet grips, the Slap (and other hand drum techniques), traditional grip on snare drum, timpani tuning and rolling, and more!
Saturday, December 6, 10 am - 1 pm: Preparing a Percussion Audition, "Mock Audition" Workshop
Timed to coincide with the beginning of the Region and Allstate and college audition season, this session begins with a mock audition, giving each student a chance to test-drive their performance in a ‘blind’ audition situation for a panel of experts. The Audition Prep clinic that follows will provide feedback designed to help students to hone their audition performance. The top three performers will receive prizes.
Fee: $50 per clinic/ $135 for series
