Marie Ferguson

Marie Ferguson, mezzo-soprano, is a MM student in vocal performance at Mason Gross School of the Arts in the studio of Susan Quittmeyer. Ms. Ferguson holds a BA in music and Women’s & Gender Studies from Rutgers University. Recently with Opera Theater Rutgers, she performed in Albert Herring (Cis), Il Tabarro (Pierrot, Lover), Gianni Schicchi (Buoso Donati), Le Nozze di Figaro (chorus), as well as the roles of Annio in La Clemenza di Tito and Carrie in Sister Carrie for scenes programs.

Ms. Ferguson is an avid dancer and experienced performer in musical theater. She received training in ballet and tap through the Academy of Dance Arts and Lustig Dance Theatre. As a Dance Captain in residence at Theatre Arts Center, NYC, Ms. Ferguson worked with professional choreographers teaching musical theater dance technique to children. Recent musical theater performances include Legally Blonde (Joyce Riley, Delta Nu), The Little Mermaid (Leeward, Ensemble), and Young Frankenstein (Ensemble) at Plays in the Park.

Ms. Ferguson enjoys working with young singers to help them develop their vocal technique and musicianship. She has experience teaching children as well as working with individuals with developmental disabilities. She hopes to help all her students grow in musical ability, confidence, and professionalism.
