DESCRIPTION:Visiting Artist Lecture: Vijay Masharani\nWednesday\, October 21\, 2026 at 7 p.m.\nVirtual Talk\, RSVP for Zoom here \nBio\nVijay Masharani (b. 1995\, Bay Area\, CA) is an artist and writer based in the Bay Area\, CA. He received his MA in Race\, Ethnicity\, and Postcolonial Studies from University College London in 2022 and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2023. In his studio practice\, he makes videos and drawings on an ongoing basis\, in a manner resembling life writing. DESCRIPTION:Visiting Artist Lecture: Joiri Minaya\nWednesday\, November 4\, 2026 at 7 p.m.\nVirtual Talk\, RSVP for Zoom here \nBio\nJoiri Minaya (1990) is a Dominican-United Statesian multidisciplinary artist whose recent works focus on destabilizing historic and contemporary representations of an imagined tropical identity. \nMinaya attended the Escuela Nacional de Artes Visuales in Santo Domingo (2009)\, Altos de Chavón School of Design (2011) and Parsons the New School for Design (2013). \nShe has participated in residencies at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture\, Guttenberg Arts\, Smack Mellon\, the Bronx Museum’s AIM Program and the NYFA Mentoring Program for Immigrant Artists\, Red Bull House of Art\, the Lower East Side Printshop\, ISCP\, Art Omi\, Vermont Studio Center\, New Wave\, Silver Art Projects and Fountainhead. \nShe has received awards\, fellowships and grants from NYSCA / NYFA\, Jerome Hill\, Artadia\, the BRIC’s Colene Brown Art Prize\, Socrates Sculpture Park\, the Joan Mitchell Foundation\, the Rema Hort Mann Foundation\, the Nancy Graves Foundation\, amongst other organizations. \nMinaya’s work is in the collections of the Santo Domingo Museo de Arte Moderno\, the Centro León Jiménes\, the Kemper Museum\, El Museo del Barrio and several private collections. \nImage Credit:\nJoiri Minaya\nThe Cloaking Series \nThis lecture is presented as part of the Fall 2026 Visiting Artist Lecture Series\, free and open to all. \nASL/CART available on request.
