Mason Gross Presents in Honor of Ardele Lister: "God Failed All My Tests: Ardele Lister's Divine Irony"

Ardele Lister's work in film, video and installation has been honored with grants and awards from The National Endowment for the Arts, Rockefeller Foundation, NY State Council on the Arts, NY Foundation for the Arts, Jerome Foundation, and the Canada Council; and is in the Permanent Collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York , Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, Academie der Kunst in Berlin, National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Media philosopher Laura U. Marks will be presenting on the work of Ardele Lister, retiring Faculty in the Art & Design Department. Marks is Grant Strate University Professor, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, author of The Skin of the Film: Intercultural Cinema, Embodiment, and the Senses, Hanan al-Cinema: Affections for the Moving Image, and other books.

In her 28 years of professing at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Ardele Lister taught 140+ undergraduate and graduate classes, served as the Director of both the Graduate and Undergraduate Programs in Art and Design, recruited and inspired thousands of students, led and served on numerous executive, pedagogical and search committees, successfully fund-raised on behalf of the media area, and commuted more than 67,200 miles.
