Florio Special Events Forum \nTo celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of Mason Gross School of the Arts\, the Rutgers Filmmaking Center created FLUXUS/RUTGERS\, a short documentary (running time: approx. 13 min.) about the Fluxus artists who taught at Rutgers in the 1970s. Following a screening of the film\, curator and performance-centered artist Daonne Huff will moderate a discussion featuring Department of Art & Design alumni panelists speaking about the ways in which the Fluxus spirit—embracing experimentation\, interdisciplinarity\, collectivity\, ephemerality\, and challenging art-world conventions—continues to influence their own practices and the art community today. DESCRIPTION:Visiting Artist Lecture: Hanneline Røgeberg\nWednesday\, October 28\, 2026\, at 7 p.m.\nCivic Square Building\, Room 110 \nBio\nHanneline Røgeberg was born in Oslo\, Norway\, and holds a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute and an MFA from Yale. Her work mines the possibilities of representation in language\, history and trauma\, and has been featured nationally and internationally in solo and group exhibitions at the Whitney Museum\, the MIT List Center\, the American Academy of Arts and Letters\, the Aldrich Museum\, Contemporary Art Center\, Cincinnati\, Vancouver Art Gallery\, and at Henie-Onstad Kunst Center. Her most recent solo exhibition was with Galleri Riis\, Oslo in 2019. She has received a Guggenheim Fellowship\, an Ingram-Merrill grant\, an American Academy of Arts and Letter Purchase Award\, an Anonymous Was A Woman grant and a Westaf/NEA grant\, among others. DESCRIPTION:Visiting Artist Lecture: Jamie Pietruska\nWednesday\, November 18\, 2026 at 7 p.m.\nCivic Square Building\, Room 110 \nBio\nPietruska\, an associate professor of history at Rutgers\, engages in research that focuses on the production and circulation of knowledge in the 19th- and 20th-century United States. She has specific interests in forecasting and ideas about the future\, risk and catastrophe\, and data practices. Her first book\, Looking Forward: Prediction and Uncertainty in Modern America (University of Chicago Press\, 2017)\, tells the story of how late19th- and early 20th-century Americans came to believe in the promise and accept the limitations of predicting the future of the weather\, the harvest\, the market\, and everyday life. DESCRIPTION:Visiting Artist Lecture: Abbey Williams\nWednesday\, December 2\, 2026 at 7 p.m.\nCivic Square Building\, Room 110 \nBio\nAbbey Williams is an artist who mostly makes videos. She received her BFA from The Cooper Union\, her MFA from Bard College\, and was a participant at The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. \nHer work has been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally\, including TATE Britain\, London; National Gallery of Victoria\, Melbourne; Reina Sofia Museum\, Madrid; Hammer Museum\, Los Angeles; The Studio Museum in Harlem\, and was a part of the 2005 Greater New York exhibition at MoMA PS1. DESCRIPTION:Visiting Artist Lecture: Hai-Wen Lin\nWednesday\, December 9\, 2026 at 7 p.m.\nCivic Square Building\, Room 110 \nBio\nHai-Wen Lin is an artist from Elk Grove\, California\, currently working somewhere beneath the sky. Their work addresses autobiographical narrative and constructions of the body\, often moving through metaphor\, etymology\, sunlight\, wind\, and the way time passes perfectly when you are out walking on a beautiful day in your favorite dress. Lin is an alumnus of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture\, received a M.Des in Fashion\, Body and Garment from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago\, and a BA from the University of California\, Davis. \nThey are a recipient of the Museum of Art and Design’s Burke Prize\, the Ellis-Beauregard Visual Arts Award\, and a Luminarts Visual Arts Fellow. Lin has been an artist-in-residence at MacDowell\, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art\, Lighthouse Works\, Ox-Bow School of Art\, the Grand Canyon National Park\, among many others. Recent solo exhibitions of their work have been held at the Museum of Art and Design (2026)\, Chinese American Museum of Chicago (2025)\, the Centre for Cultural and Artistic Practices (2025)\, and Contemporary Art Museum\, St. Louis (2025). Lin is one half of medium-sized\, a collaborative practice with the poet Margaret Wright.
