Event Description

Please join us for our annual Rutgers Woodwind Day featuring our guest artist, flutist Mimi Stillman, and Mason Gross School of the Arts faculty and students in recitals and master classes. The event occurs on the Douglass Campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in the Marryott Music BuildingNicholas Music Center, and Robert E. Mortensen Hall.
 

Meet and work with music faculty members of the Mason Gross School of the Arts: Bart Feller and Kaoru Hinata, flute; Maureen Hurd, clarinet; Paul Cohen, saxophone; Andrew Adelson, Erin Banholzer, and Oscar Petty, oboe; and Roger Nye, bassoon. Hear performances by faculty as well as Mason Gross undergraduate and graduate music students. Participate in master classes, workshops, and performances.

The event is open to professionals, amateurs, students, teachers, parents, and music directors from the greater New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York areas. All woodwind enthusiasts (professionals, and amateurs of all ages and abilities) are encouraged to attend and to play in master classes.
 
This event may be used for professional development by public school instructors.  Teachers may request a certificate from the Mason Gross Extension Division documenting their participation in this event.
 
Participants will have the opportunity to try and purchase a vast assortment of woodwind instruments and accessories. A master repair person from Elefante Music will be on site to make minor repairs free of charge. Registration fee is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Parents/guardians attend free.

  • 3:30 p.m. - D’Addario Presentation: Clarinet and Saxophone Reeds, Mouthpieces, and More (Shindell Choral Hall, Mortensen Hall)
  • 5 p.m. - Mimi Stillman, Flute, Guest Recital (Shindell Choral Hall, Mortensen Hall)
