Theater Arts Theater is a creative art in which true excellence can only be achieved through mastery of the technical craft. The Theater Arts curricula combine rigorous studio class work with a demanding production schedule to provide students with in-depth training and practice in theater. Classes are conducted by distinguished master teachers and professional artists.
The Department of Theater Arts produces an extensive season of 15 to 18 or more plays every year, including those produced by the graduate directing program's Jameson Project. In addition, numerous B.F.A. workshops, salons, class scenes and senior projects are presented. The Shoestring Players, a professional children's performance troupe, is also in residence. For undergraduates, a B.A. liberal arts major is offered through Rutgers College, Douglass College, Livingston College, and University College. The Theater Arts Department offers classes to Bachelors of Arts Theater Majors and Minors who are enrolled at one of Rutgers' Liberal Arts Colleges.
