Mikiko Suzuki MacAdams

Set Design

Mikiko Suzuki MacAdams was born in Kobe, Japan, and traveled to United States to learn set design over 20 years ago. Based in New York City, she has worked in both the USA and Japan as a freelance set designer and as associate set designer for Michael Yeargan and others.

MacAdams’s work has been seen Off Broadway at the Working Theater, Epic Theater Ensemble, INTAR Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and the National Asian American Theatre Company. Within the USA, she has worked at the Oregon Shakespeare festival, Long Wharf Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Playmakers Repertory Company, ACT Theatre, Yale Repertory Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse, Public Theatre’s Under the Raider Festival, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Short North Stage, and Cornerstone Theater Company, among others. Internationally, she has worked at the Nissay Theatre, Nikikai Opera, Lylic, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Aichi Triennale in Nagoya, and Biwako Hall in Otsu.

As an associate scenic designer, her Broadway credits includes: The King and I, TheBridges of Madison County, Golden Boy, That Championship Season, Women on The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Next Fall, andJoe Turner’s Come and Gone. She has also worked on Lincoln Center Theater’s South Pacific in the USA, UK, and Australian national tours.

She received her MFA from Yale School of Drama and BFA from Cornish College of the Arts.
