Allen Cutler

Properties Supervisor

Allen Cutler is a visual artist and designer.  e has been Prop Master and Prop Designer at The Berkshire Theatre Festival (Stockbridge, MA), George Street Playhouse (New Brunswick, NJ), San Diego Repertory Theatre (San Diego, CA), and Hartford Stage (Hartford, CT). He is a founding member of The Forge artist collective for which he has designed Fall of the House of Usher at the Independent Theatre (NYC), Bertolt Brecht's Edward II at the Bank Street Theatre (NYC), Angels in America: Millennium Approaches (Baltimore, MD) and Immortal: The Gilgamesh Variations at the Bushwick-Starr (NYC).

Cutler has also designed and built props and puppets for Varla Jean Merman (a.k.a. Jeffrey Roberson) for many years. He designed the setting for Shut Up, Sweet Charlotte! at Le Petit Theatre directed by Roberson (New Orleans). This design was nominated for a Big Easy Award in 2007. He has also designed the premieres of Charles Borkhuis’s Present Tense for the Tiny Theatre Festival at The Brick (NYC) and Not Her (And Other Exiles) at Dixon Place (NYC), both directed by Gabriel Shanks.
