Directions

From Route 18 North:

  • Follow Route 18 north past the entrance for the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 1.
  • After the first traffic light (Paulus Blvd.), bear right to get into the local lanes (following signs for New Brunswick Exits).
  • Take the Albany Street/Route 27 south exit.
  • Turn right onto George Street.
  • Just past the train overpass, the chapel's driveway is through the black wrought-iron gates between George and Somerset streets.

From Route 18 South:

  • Cross over the Raritan River via the John Lynch Memorial Bridge.
  • Take the first exit (George Street/Rutgers University, New Brunswick, Route 27).
  • Bear left as you travel to the top of the ramp, and at the traffic light proceed straight on George Street.
  • Turn right one block after the third traffic light (immediately after sign for “Van Nest Welcome Center”—CAUTION, sharp turn through the black iron gates –just before Somerset Street) and proceed up the driveway, bearing right into the parking lot.

From Route 1 North or South:

  • Follow Route 1 to the “Route 18 north – New Brunswick” exit and follow our Route 18 north directions.

From the NJ Turnpike North & South:

  • Take Exit 9 (marked “New Brunswick”) off the Turnpike.
  • Follow signs for “Route 18 north – New Brunswick” and follow our Route 18 north directions.

From the Garden State Parkway Southbound (from North Jersey):

  • Follow the Parkway to Exit 129 for the New Jersey Turnpike south and follow our directions from the Turnpike above.

From the Garden State Parkway Northbound (from South Jersey):

  • Take Exit 127 for I-287 to the New Jersey Turnpike south.
  • Follow our directions from the New Jersey Turnpike.

From Route 27 North

  • Follow Route 27 into New Brunswick and turn left onto George Street.
  • Just past the train overpass, the chapel's driveway is through the black wrought-iron gates directly between George and Somerset streets.

From Route 27 South

  • Follow Route 27 south across the river.
  • Once in New Brunswick, take a right at the third light onto George Street.
  • Just past the train overpass, the chapel's driveway is through the black wrought-iron gates directly between George and Somerset streets.

From Interstate 287 (North or South):

  • Take Exit 9 (River Road-Bound Brook-Highland Park).
  • Proceed east on River Road approximately three miles (you will pass Rutgers Stadium on left).
  • At the second traffic light after Rutgers Stadium/Landing Lane, make right onto Route 18 south and cross over the Raritan River via the John Lynch Memorial Bridge.
  • Take the first exit (George Street-Rutgers University, New Brunswick, Route 27).
  • Keep to the left as you travel to the top of the ramp, and at the traffic light proceed straight on George Street.
  • Turn right one block after the third traffic light (immediately after sign for “Van Nest Welcome Center”—CAUTION, sharp turn through the black iron gates—just before Somerset Street) and proceed up the driveway bearing right into the parking lot.

Parking

Parking is available in Lots 1, 11, 11a, and 13 starting 30 minutes prior to the scheduled performance time for visitors only and in the metered spaces on Somerset Street.

These are all permit lots. Parking regulations are in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Rutgers faculty, staff, and students must follow all rules and regulations regarding lot assignment authorized by their particular permit. Up-to-date rules and regulations are here.

Secondary parking is available in the public parking decks in downtown New Brunswick.

Convenient handicap-accessible parking is located adjacent to the building on a first come, first serve basis.  Appropriate placards or license plates are required.

Campus Bus Directions

From Cook/Douglass:

  • Take the EE bus (weekdays) or Weekend 1 bus (weekends) and get off at the NJ Transit train station.
  • Once at the train station, cross Somerset Street, pass through the gates and walk up the hill.

From Livingston Campus:

  • Take the LX bus (weekdays) or Weekend 2 bus (weekends) and get off at Scott Hall (by the grease trucks).
  • Once at the train station, cross Somerset Street, pass through the gates and walk up the hill.

From Busch Campus:

  • Take the A bus (weekdays) or Weekend 2 bus (weekends) and get off at Scott Hall (by the grease trucks).
  • Cross Hamilton Street and head through the trees to the chapel.

Public Transportation Directions

By Train:

  • NJ Transit services the New Brunswick station via the Northeast Corridor line.
  • Once in New Brunswick, take the stairs down to street level onto Somerset Street.
  • Cross Somerset Street, pass through the gates and walk up the hill.
