FREE concert: Verdehr Trio, 3/22 at Nicholas Music Center

The Mason Gross Presents series brings the Verdehr Trio to Nicholas Music center 8 p.m. Tuesday, Verdehr TrioMarch 22, 2011, for a free concert that includes selections from W.A. Mozart and George and Ira Gershwin. Tickets are not required.

The trio, featuring violin, clarinet and piano, performs a mix of new works and Classical and Romantic pieces. The concert at the Mason Gross School will include the Gershwins' I Got Rhythm variations as well as Polish composer Karol Szymanowski's Chant de Roxane.

The group will offer clarinet, violin, and piano master classes in Marryott Music Building's Schare Recital Hall, Rehearsal Hall Room 104, and in Nicholas Music Center, respectively, from 10 a.m. to noon March 22. The public is welcome to observe any of the classes.

Nicholas Music Center, Rehearsal Hall Room 104 and Schare Recital Hall are at 85 George St. between Ryders Lane and Route 18 on the Douglass Campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in New Brunswick. Mason Gross Presents is a year-round event series produced by special funding from the Mason Gross School of the Arts and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The series combines the educational and community outreach missions of the conservatory through special performances in theater, music, and dance, along with visual arts exhibitions and other arts programming that enhance the educational experience of students while also bringing quality programs to the community.
