The Department of Music at Mason Gross School of the Arts offers advanced training in performance leading to the degrees of:

The Music Department also offers the Master of Arts (M.A.) and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.); students in these programs are enrolled in The Graduate School - New Brunswick. These programs have as their common aim the development of well-educated professional musicians who perform at the highest level and who have a deep historical and theoretical understanding of all aspects of music.

Performers who choose to pursue advanced training at Mason Gross School of the Arts enjoy the advantages of a distinguished faculty in Musicology, Theory, and Composition. This diversity of faculty resources provides a breadth of experience rarely encountered in other programs.

A special feature of the graduate programs is the Rutgers Concert Bureau, which arranges concert opportunities for enrolled graduate students.
