INSTRUCTIONS FOR NON-MAJOR LESSONS

B.A. Music and non-music majors must do the following each semester in order to audition for a lesson.

Piano And Voice

Auditions for lessons are scheduled the first three days of each semester, 10-Noon and 1-3.

  1. Come to the Marryott Music Building, Douglass Campus
  2. Get information and audition forms from the table in the lobby
  3. Follow the directions
  4. Audition for a choir or large ensemble. Go here for more details.

Instruments - Classical and Jazz

Auditions for non-major lessons are evaluated by the directors of the large ensembles: Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble.

All classical woodwind and brass must audition for Wind Ensemble.

If you are accepted into a choir/ensemble, and the faculty/ensemble director recommends a non-major lesson or class, you will see me to learn if space is available. If so, I will provide you with registration numbers.

The Department of Music reserves the right to assign any student registered for performance lessons to an ensemble of its choice.
IT IS MANDATORY THAT YOU BE ACCEPTED INTO A LARGE ENSEMBLE IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR PRIVATE NON-MAJOR LESSONS. NO EXCEPTIONS.
