EVENT DESCRIPTION
 
Piano Day will enrich piano instructors' and music educators' skills by offering a day of intensive workshops with internationally renown pedagogue, Dr. Randall Faber. Students will have the opportunity to participate in master classes with Dr. Faber. Teachers will benefit from observing Dr. Faber’s master class, and from interacting with him throughout the day. This event is ideal for music educators, private studio instructors, and college students. Professional Development Certificates are available upon request.

SCHEDULE
 

8:30 a.m. Registration·         

8:30–10 a.m. Age-Appropriate Teaching
Preschool, middle school, high school. Different ages bring different motivations. Dr. Faber shares theory and practice on tapping intrinsic motivations.

10:05–10:40 a.m. Breakout Session
Brainstorm with fellow participants using guided questions from Dr. Faber.

10:40–11:10 a.m. Hospitality
Join us for complimentary light refreshments.

11:10 a.m.–12:40 p.m. Technique Secrets: Right from the Start
Video and demonstration of essential technical gestures, based on the material from the Technique & Artistry series. Addresses elementary to advanced technique.

12:40–2 p.m. Lunch
 

2–4:45 p.m. Piano Master Class
Watch Dr. Faber work with four different students, each at a different stage of repertoire and development.

 

Dr. Randall Faber

 

 

Pianist and educator, Dr. Randall Faber, has appeared as special guest at universities throughout North America and Asia, including the Beijing Central Conservatory, the Shanghai Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of Canada. He has been Convention Artist for the Music Teachers National Association Conference and master teacher for the World Conference on Piano Pedagogy, National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, the Australasian Piano Pedagogy Conference and the USA National Piano Teachers Institute. A Steinway Artist, Dr. Faber has given recitals throughout the United States, Canada and Asia. He has appeared on international television and on public radio in live recital broadcast.

Dr. Faber holds three degrees from the University of Michigan and a PhD in Education and Human Development from Vanderbilt University. His research on motivation and talent development has been featured in journals and media in South Korea, China, Australia, and at the 9th International Conference on Motivation in Lisbon, Portugal. Dr. Faber and his wife Nancy are well known as authors of the best-selling Piano Adventures® teaching method. Translated to seven languages, their books have sold tens of millions of copies around the world.
