Sherry Alban

Ballet

Sherry Alban has been a member of the dance faculty and taught ballet at Mason Gross School of the Arts for the past 35 years. She also has a long-standing affiliation with the Princeton Ballet as performer, choreographer, rehearsal director, and faculty member and was honored as their 2011 recipient of the Audrée Estey Award for Excellence in Dance Education. Alban is the children’s ballet mistress for both the Washington Ballet’s annual Nutcracker as well as the American Repertory Ballet’s Nutcracker. A recipient of the New Jersey State Council of the Arts’ Choreography Fellowship, she has had her work performed by Princeton Ballet II, Roanoke Ballet Theatre, DancePlus at Rutgers, and New England Opera and has been resident choreographer since 1998 for New Jersey Youth Theatre’s main-stage productions at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and the Ailey Theater in New York. Alban has also served as director and choreographer for Plays in the Park in Edison, New Jersey and Opera at Rutgers.
