Olivia Mode-Cater

Olivia Mode-Cater graduated summa cum laude with her BFA in Dance from Mason Gross School of the Arts and received her EdM in Dance Education at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education.  Mode-Cater was the recipient of the New Jersey Department of Education's 2012 Student Teacher of the Year Award, as the first ever dance educator to have received such recognition. After graduation Mode-Cater began teaching dance in NJ public schools where she designed her own dance program and curriculum and also became a supervisor of the Arts and Humanities department at her school. Mode-Cater has also presented on dance education at various conferences including NJAHPERD and the NJ Charter Schools Conference. 

Mode-Cater is a dancer, choreographer, and singer. She is signed to Sony Red Label as part of an up and coming girl band called Retro Glam. The group is featured on the newest release from hip hop artist Doc Ice of Whodini & UTFO and has also collaborated with two-time Grammy nominated artist Skee-Lo. Mode-Cater is the choreographer of Retro Glam. She also has performed in various music videos for such artists as Doc Ice, Timeflies, and Giselle Bellas. Mode-Cater also has experience in musical theater. She most recently played Mrs. Woods in an off-Broadway production of Legally Blonde. Her other regional theater credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Producers, Sweet Charity, and Singin’ in the Rain. She is a company member of the modern dance group, Connolly & Co., and performed with the company at the NJPAC, Reverb Festival, Dixon’s Place, and Grounds for Sculpture.
