"A remarkable evening": The New York Times reviews student piano concert

On February 17, 2015, Mason Gross student pianists performed "The Unknown Diabelli Variations" at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall. Twenty-five pianists performed seldom-heard variations on a theme by Austrian publisher Anton Diabelli by composers including Schubert, Liszt, Czerny, and Moscheles as well as original variations by Rutgers student composers.

New York Times reviewer James R. Oestreich called it a "remarkable evening" that "revealed a wide range of pianistic and compositional gifts among the students, undergraduate as well as postgraduate." Read the full review: Diabolical Diabelli at Rutgers, With New Variations.
