Rachael Lansang

Rachael Lansang is a musicologist and performer specializing in opera and contemporary vocal music. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in vocal performance at the University of Connecticut.
 
She is currently a PhD candidate at Rutgers University in musicology. At Rutgers, Ms. Lansang has taught undergraduate courses in music history, world music, and opera history. She also provides instruction in research skills for Rutgers University Libraries. Her dissertation project is titled, “Women’s Bodies in Song: Text, Performance, and Embodiment” and focuses on new methodological approaches to analysis of contemporary art song by women composers. 
 
Ms. Lansang is also a versatile mezzo-soprano, and has performed with opera companies throughout the U.S. and Europe, including New Jersey State Opera, Hartford Opera Theater, Baltimore Bach Society, Opéra du Perigord, and Regina Opera, among others. She currently sings with the C4 Ensemble, a professional choir in New York City that specializes in contemporary repertoire.
