MFA sculpture student wins Best of Show in NYC

MFA sculpture student Basia Goszczynska just won Best of Show in the Recycle show, at Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition's space in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Her piece, Engineered Hollow (2014), is made of chicken wire, steel rod, plastic bags, wood, and cement.

The show, hosted by the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, runs May 9–June 14. The winners were selected by Elissa Goldstone, Director of Exhibitions of the Socrates Sculpture Park.

The show features art crafted from found and re-purposed materials. At least 50 percent of the piece had to have been recycled or re-purposed materials.
