After you watch the documentary Mr. Gaga: A True Story of Love and Dance
on March 1, come to campus on March 4 and take a free Gaga/people class with dancer and teacher Wies
, graduate of the Royal Conservatory Antwerp in Belgium and certified Gaga/people teacher.
Gaga/people classes are open to people ages 16+, regardless of their background in dance or movement. No previous dance experience is needed. Gaga/people classes last for one hour and are taught by certified teachers and dancers who have worked closely with choreographer Ohad Naharin. Teachers guide the participants using a series of evocative instructions that build one on top of the other. Each participant actively interprets the instruction in their own way. Gaga/people classes offer a creative framework for participants to connect to their bodies and imaginations, increase their physical awareness, improve their flexibility and stamina, and experience the pleasure of movement in a welcoming, accepting atmosphere. Participants should wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to dance barefoot or in socks. It is advisable to bring a bottle of water and a towel for use after class. Please note this is a Gaga/people class, not a Gaga/dancers class, which employs more specific vocabulary and skills.
Participation in class is first-come, first-served, with a maximum of 50 participants. Please RSVP at 848-932-1367. Arrive early to ensure entry.
