Dance faculty member Pam Tanowitz awarded Cage Cunningham Fellowship

Choreographer and Mason Gross dance faculty member Pam Tanowitz is the recipient of the Baryshnikov Arts Center’s 2017 Cage Cunningham Fellowship, awarded to artists who embody the commitment to artistic innovation of composer John Cage and choreographer Merce Cunningham.

The annual fellowship includes $50,000 to support new work, access to the center’s John Cage and Merce Cunningham Studio for eight weeks, and administrative support. Tanowitz is already planning an evening-length staging of T.S. Eliot’s poems “Four Quartets,” with an original score by the Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho.
