The group, founded in the early 1990s under Timothy Gunter and former Rutgers professor Joe Brashier, became the Rutgers Symphony Band that is still in existence today. The re-organized Rutgers Concert Band performs transcriptions of orchestral works as well as standard band literature. The size of this mostly nonmusic major organization typically ranges from 60 to 90 members. The conductor is Timothy G. Smith, professor of music.
