Applications due Jan. 10 for Mason Gross School of the Arts High School Piano Competition

Students ages 14 to 18 are invited to participate in a piano competition on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at the Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick. The winners will perform for Dorian Leljak, president of the World Piano Congress, as part of a master class taking place from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011. Applications are due Monday, Jan. 10, 2011.

The competition will take place at 4 p.m. the Marryott Music Building, 81 George Street at Route 18, on the Douglass Campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.

Students must perform one concerto movement and a solo selection of their choice. Anyone, including the instructor, may accompany the concerto. Audition slots are 15 minutes and private. Slots are first-come, first-served. The judges' decisions are final.

Judges include Mason Gross faculty members Dr. Karina Bruk and Dr. Paul Hoffmann and Mason Gross Extension Division faculty member Dr. Christina Fox.
