Visual Arts Professor Recognized as Contemporary Art Innovator with UCLA Medal

In a career spanning more than six decades, Raphael Montañez Ortiz has destroyed a piano with a pickaxe, crafted collages out of burned shoes and dirt and guillotined a chicken to protest the war in Vietnam – all in the name of art.

Ho’o Hee has a background in design/production and has worked with Parsons: The New School for Design, Gallery Loupe, David Stark Design and Production, Puppet Heap, The Huntington Theater Company and Parsons Brinckerhoff. She holds a BS in architectural studies from MIT and an MFA in furniture design from RISD.

February 9: status of Mason Gross events

Please note that the Mason Gross Galleries will be closed and all Extension Division classes, lessons, and ensembles will be canceled on Thursday, February 9, due to inclement weather. The gallery will reopen Friday, February 10 at 10 a.m. and classes will resume on Friday, February 10.
