    Tuba Bach Chamber Music Festival, Big Rapids, MI. 
    Sep. 15, 2013      
    The eighth annual Tuba Bach chamber music festival began with a performance by Universal Brass Ensemble. Thomas Boulton, on trumpet; Dan Wions, on French horn; Yevgeny Morozov, on piano; and festival founder Ed Mallett, on euphonium and tuba, played 11 pieces in the free concert.

Trombonist, composer, arranger, and educator Dave Miller was born in Waukegan, Illinois. In Miller's youth, his father would play records of Dizzy Gillespie, Maynard Ferguson, Louis Armstrong, and Oscar Peterson, which the family would enjoy together.

Calling all young choreographers

When you hear music, do you imagine action? Do you like making up moves?

Do you create your own dance shows at home? Then you are a choreographer--a dance inventor.

Applications due Jan. 10 for Mason Gross School of the Arts High School Piano Competition

Students ages 14 to 18 are invited to participate in a piano competition on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at the Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick. The winners will perform for Dorian Leljak, president of the World Piano Congress, as part of a master class taking place from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011. Applications are due Monday, Jan. 10, 2011.
