Crime is a regrettable fact of life in contemporary society, a problem that does not magically disappear as you step from city street to campus green. Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey maintains a comprehensive public safety program aimed at serving all members of the campus community. Please click here for more information. Also, in accordance with state law, no one other than commissioned law enforcement personnel may carry fire arms on campus. Please refrain from carrying weapons of any kind onto the property.
Turn off all electronic devices, including cellular phones and pagers, for the duration of the performance. If they cause a disturbance during a performance, they will be confiscated until the conclusion of the event. The House Manager will gladly hold cell phones and pagers in case of an emergency.
Cameras and recording devices are prohibited inside the audience seating areas. This includes cell phone camera phones. AdmissionVenue doors open 1 hour prior to curtain time. Theater doors open at the discretion of management, usually 30 minutes prior to curtain time. All venues close 30 minutes after the performance or final event of the evening concludes.
Management reserves the right to refuse admission and remove patrons that are being disruptive to the performers or other audience members.
Latecomers are seated at the discretion of management. In order to minimize disruption of the performance, patrons are placed in a pre-determined section of the theater and may then move to their ticketed seats only at intermission. Tickets may be exchanged into another performance up to one half hour after curtain time printed on the ticket. (Subject to availability.)
While there is no formal dress code for Mason Gross sponsored events, shirts and shoes are required. It is also recommended that patrons dress in layers as the temperature of our facilities can fluctuate.
The Mason Gross Performing Arts Center is a smoke free environment. Smoking is permitted outside of the buildings only. It is requested that patrons refrain from smoking on Bettenbender Plaza while a performance is taking place in that space.
Food and beverages are prohibited inside the audience seating areas. They are permitted in the lobbies of New Theater and Philip J. Levin Theater only.
Children who are too small to occupy their own seat are not permitted inside any of our performance venues. No admission is permitted for those under 36 months of age for any indoor event. Children 36 months and older must have their own ticket. Due to fire code regulations and comfort of other patrons, no strollers, baby carriers, or booster seats are permitted inside the venues.
The Mason Gross Performing Arts Center requires that all patrons, regardless of age, have their own ticket for admission to paid events in our facilities. If children are too young to occupy their own seats, they cannot be admitted to our venues. This is for the safety and comfort of all our patrons.
Children, regardless of age, are welcome to attend the free, outdoor events held during the summer months. Mason Gross School of the Arts and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey are not responsible for their safety at these events. Parents and/or guardians should be aware of the behavior of their children so that it is not disruptive to others attending the performance.
