Marshall Sponder received his B.A. from Hunter College, his M.A. in Communications from New York Institute of Technology and holds a Marketing Management Certificate from Baruch College of Continuing Studies.
For over a decade, Sponder (CEO of WebMetricsGuru, Inc. & WMG SI) has been influencing the development of the digital analytics industry with his industry blog, WebMetricsGuru, focusing on social media metrics, social intelligence, and its intersection with the art world.
Sponder is the author of Social Media Analytics (McGraw-Hill 2011) and has experience at IBM and Monster, combined with contract work for Porter Novelli PR, small businesses and startups. He is Board Member Emeritus at the Web Analytics Association (now rebranded as the Digital Analytics Association) and is a member of the Search Engine Marketing Professionals Organization (SEMPO).
Marshall developed and teaches Social Media for the Arts, a web intelligence course developed for Rutgers University that focuses on giving artists of all types the ability to successfully use data to further their art and careers. He also teaches Web Intelligence to MBA students at Baruch College and Fashion Institute of Technology, and is leading the development and delivery of a course on Creating Viral Media at Rutgers using Big Data.
