Important Dates and Deadlines

October 1

  • Mid-year transfer applications due for January admission (undergraduate transfer dance and music and graduate music only).
  • Rutgers University early action deadline - does not apply to Mason Gross programs. 
  • Pre-Screening recording submissions due for all SPRING M.M., D.M.A. and A.D. solo piano performance and voice.

November 1

  • Recorded audition deadline for all spring transfer Dance and transfer/graduate Music applicants.

December 1

  • Priority university, scholarship, and financial aid application deadline for all fall undergraduate applicants. **Although it is highly recommended you submit your application by December 1 for full scholarship consideration, applications will still be accepted after this date.
  • Pre-Screening recording priority submission due for all FALL M.M., D.M.A. and A.D. solo piano performance and voice/opera performance. PLEASE NOTE: Those who submit a pre-screen recording by Dec. 1 are guaranteed a reply from the department by Jan. 5, 2013. 

 December 10

  • Online notification date of spring applicant's admissions decisions for all students who have submitted a complete application.  Please check your status screen to be sure your application is complete.

January 5

  • Graduate Piano and Voice pre-screening audition notification date.  

  • **Please note: Only those who submit their prescreen recording by December 1 are guaranteed a reply from the department by January 5, 2012. 

January 15

  • Recommended application deadline for Theater B.F.A. acting fall semester candidates. - we could potentially cut off applications after this date - so it is highly recommended applicants have all their material in before 1/15.
  • Recommended application deadline for Theater B.F.A. design and production fall semester candidates.
  • Visual arts portfolio submission deadline for undergraduate fall semester candidates.

February 1

  • Recorded audition deadline for all FALL Music applicants.
  • Recommended Recorded audition deadline for all fall Dance applicants.
  • Recommended FAFSA submission deadline.
  •  Recommended Transfer application submission deadline.
  • Application deadline for Music M.M., M.A., Ph.D, A.D., and D.M.A. candidates.
  • Application deadline for Visual Arts M.F.A. candidates.
  • Application deadline for Dance ED.M Dance education certification track.
  • Visual arts portfolio submission deadline for graduate fall semester candidates.

March 1

  • Rutgers University Graduate application deadline.
  • Application deadline for Theater M.F.A .Acting, Design, Directing, Play writing and Stage Management candidates.

April 1

  • Admission and scholarship notification date for most undergraduate applicants who completed their application by December 1 and audition/portfolio submission by department designated dates.  (Please note, notifications happen on a rolling basis, so you may hear earlier than April 1. Admissions decisions do not happen in any particular order and are no indication of the student's chance of admission to Mason Gross or Rutgers University. If students receive an admissions decision from another school at Rutgers before they hear from Mason Gross their decision to Mason Gross will not be determined by that result). 

May 1 

  • Tuition deposit deadline for candidates with scholarship. **Enrollment deposits will be accepted after May 1 if space is still available. 
  • Application deadline for Dance Ed.M. Dance education non-certification track.

May 15

  • Tuition deposit deadline for M.M. and D.M.A. candidates in Music Education.

**Please note that due to the talent portion of the application (auditions,interviews and portfolios) Mason Gross applicants may be not be notified of their admission decision as indicated by the university dates in the links above. Below are the estimated admission notification dates for Mason Gross applicants for Fall Admission:

  • Dance: If their application to the University is complete dancers are typically notified within two weeks of completing their audition, but not always.  Applicants are guaranteed to hear from us no later than April 1. 
  • Music: If their application to the University is complete music applicants are notified no later than April 1. 
  • Theater: If their application to the University is complete actors are notified by the first week of April.  Design and Production applicants are notified on a rolling basis once their application and interviews are complete.
  • Visual Arts: If their application to the University is complete and portfolio submitted by January 15th Visual Artists are notified no later than April 1.

For Spring Admission:

  • All applicants should see their decision posted online No later than December 10
