Theater Arts Interview
Bachelors In Fine Arts Program
Design Program
The program prepares you for a career as a theatrical
set, costume or lighting designer. Students interested
in theater design take courses in drawing, scenic design,
lighting design, and costume design, in addition to
technical and craft courses. The BFA design program
is intensive training that uses the research resources
of New York City and provides design opportunities in
two theaters and one studio.

Review Requirements:
- You must submit your application to Rutgers University
prior to scheduling an interview. After you do
so, you will receive a letter from the Theater Arts
Department with information on how to schedule your
interview.
- There is a $40.00 non-refundable interview fee
for all design applicants. (This fee is separate
from the application fee to the University.)
- Bring examples of any artwork and drawings you may
have done for classes, on your own, for the school
paper, etc. These drawings do not have to pertain
to theater. Photographs of shows or craft projects
are also helpful. The portfolio should be presented
in a manila folder or portfolio case. (Inexpensive
cardboard portfolios are available in most art supply
stores.)
