Campus transportation directions

Take campus bus EE to the New Gibbons stop on the Douglass College campus.  Walk across George Street at the light, and the center is directly in front of you.

 

Public transportation directions

By train:  Amtrak and NJ Transit service the New Brunswick station via the Northeast Corridor line.  Take a campus bus as described above to arrive at the venue.

Driving directions

From Route 18 (North or South)
Northbound – On Route 18 North, pass the Entrance for the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 1. After the first traffic light (Paulus Blvd.) merge into the far left hand lane and turn left (you may need to go to the right with a new traffic pattern to do this )at the light onto Commercial Ave. At the second traffic light, make a left onto George Street. Proceed through the Ryders Lane/George Street traffic circle. Just before the next traffic light, take the right hand jug handle and cross back over George Street. The Performing Arts Center is directly ahead.


Southbound – On Route 18 South pass downtown New Brunswick. Make a right onto Commercial Avenue. At the second traffic light, make a left onto George Street. Proceed through the Ryders Lane/George Street traffic circle. Just before the next traffic light, take the right hand jug handle and cross back over George Street. The Performing Arts Center is directly ahead.

From New Jersey Turnpike (North or South)
Take Exit 9. After the toll booths, bear to the right. Follow signs for "Route 18
North – New Brunswick." Follow directions from Route 18 northbound above.

From Garden State Parkway (North or South)
Northbound - Coming from southern New Jersey. Take I-287 to the NJ Turnpike South. Follow directions from New Jersey Turnpike southbound, above.


Southbound - Coming from northern New Jersey. Turn off at Exit 129 for the
New Jersey Turnpike and head south. Follow directions from New Jersey Turnpike southbound, above.

From Route 1 (North or South)
Turn off at exit marked "Route 18 North-New Brunswick". Follow directions from Route 18 northbound, above.

From Route 287 (North or South)
Take the New Jersey Turnpike South exit. Follow directions from New Jersey
Turnpike southbound, above.

From Route 27 (North or South)
Northbound - Follow Route 27 into New Brunswick and turn right onto George Street. Follow George Street through Downtown New Brunswick and pass through the Commercial Ave light. Proceed through the Ryders Lane/George Street traffic circle. Just before the next traffic light, take the right hand jug handle and cross back over George Street. Take campus bus F to the George Street stop near Livingston Avenue.  The building is located next to the State Theatre.                        

 

Public transportation directions

The New Brunswick train station, which has Amtrak and NJ Transit connections, is about an hour from New York City and Philadelphia. Civic Square is approximately five minutes walking distance from the station. Cross Albany St. (Route 27) and turn left. Walk a block and a half to George St. Turn right onto George St. and walk four blocks to Livingston Ave. Turn right onto Livingston Ave. Civic Square is at the corner of Livingston and New Street.

From New Jersey Turnpike (North or South)

Turn off at Exit 105 and follow signs for Route 18 North.

After approximately 24 miles you will pass the entrance for the New Jersey Turnpike and continue on Route 18 North.

Proceed along Route 18 North. After the second traffic light, take the exit marked "New Street". Follow New Street for four blocks. Civic Square is the large red brick building at the corner of New Street and Livingston Avenue.

PLEASE NOTE: It may be beneficial to follow the Garden State Parkway northbound until you reach the New Jersey Turnpike to avoid traffic conjestion on Route 18.

From Route 1 (North or South)

Turn off at exit marked "Route 18 North-New Brunswick". Proceed along Route 18 North. After the second traffic light, take the exit marked "New Street". Follow New Street for four blocks. Civic Square is the large red brick building at the corner of New Street and Livingston Avenue.

From Route 287 (North or South)

Turn off at Exit 9 (Formerly Exit 5) "River Road, Bound Brook, Highland Park". Proceed east on River Road toward Highland Park until you reach the fifth traffic light (approximately 3.4 miles) at the intersection of River Road, Metlars Lane and Route 18. Turn right onto Route 18 South and cross the Raritan River on the John Lynch Memorial Bridge. Take the exit marked "Burnet Street."  Make the first right onto Richmond Street. Make first left onto Neilsen Street. Make first right onto New Street and follow for two blocks. Civic Square is the large red brick building at the corner of New Street and Livingston Avenue.

Take campus bus EE, F, or L to the Somerset Street stop by the train station.  The chapel is across the street from the station.  Campus buses A, F, H, l, and LX stop on George Street near Hamilton Street, and the chapel is across from the Zimmerli Art Museum.

Public transportation directions

The New Brunswick train station, which has Amtrak and NJ Transit connections, is about an hour from New York City and Philadelphia.  The chapel is located on the southbound side of the railroad tracks on the other side of the street.

Garden State Parkway Southbound

Take exit 129 for the New Jersey Turnpike. Follow signs for Turnpike South. Take exit 9 for New Brunswick – Rutgers University. Bear right after the toll booth towards Route 18 North – Route 1. After the merger, keep to the left and get into the two left-most lanes that follow, Route 18 North, NOT Route 1. Approximately 2 miles up Route 18 North, take the exit for Albany Street/Route 27 South. Continue on Albany Street/Route 27 South to the third traffic light (George Street). Turn right on George Street, pass under railroad bridge to the corner of Somerset and George streets. The chapel's driveway is through the black wrought iron gates directly in-between George and Somerset streets. Kirkpatrick Chapel will be the first building directly ahead.

Take exit 9 for Bound Brook – Highland Park. Take River Road east toward Highland Park (right at exit ramp if coming from the North, left if from South). The fifth traffic light will be the intersection of River Road and Route 18 / Metlars Lane. Turn right at this light onto Route 18 South. Take the first exit marked George Street – Rutgers University. Continue through the traffic light onto George Street. Proceed for 4 blocks along George Street, to the intersection of George Street and Somerset Street. Turn sharply to the right and proceed through the large, black iron gates onto the Old Queen's campus. Kirkpatrick Chapel will be the first building directly ahead.

New Jersey Turnpike

Take exit 9 for New Brunswick – Rutgers University. Bear right after the tollbooths towards Route 18 North – Route 1. After the merger, keep to the left and get into the two left-most lanes that follow, Route 18 North, NOT Route 1. Follow directions for the Mason Gross Performing Arts Center but proceed through the Old Gibbons light.  George Street takes a sharp curve to the right.  Pass under the walking bridge.  Pass through the first light (Nichol Avenue).  Turn left at the next corner onto Jones Avenue.  Park on the street.  The theater is in the lower level of the Jameson Dormitories on the corner of Jones and Suydam Avenues.
