Thomas Purcell

Thomas is currently a graduate student at Rutgers University working towards a Master of Arts degree in Musicology and a Master of Music degree in violin performance. He received his B.M in violin performance from Western Connecticut State University where he was a student of the Kathwari Honors Program. He served as Concertmaster of the WCSU Symphony Orchestra and Opera Orchestra on numerous occasions, as well as the Assistant Concertmaster of the Danbury Symphony Orchestra and Ives Festival Orchestra. As a versatile freelance violinist in the greater NYC area, he has performed as a member of the DePonte Soloists, Orchestra of the Bronx, 5th Floor Theatre Company and has been a substitute violinist for Kinky Boots, The King and I, and Phantom of the Opera. Dedicated to the growth and development of contemporary music, Thomas has commissioned and premiered many new solo violin and chamber music works. He has previously studied with Eric Lewis and Patti Kilroy and is currently studying with Yoon Kwon.
